Training in scientific thought and professional action based on tools from the scientific field favors competency-based learning and strengthens the comprehensive training of engineering students. This subject seeks to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge of scientific thought and method applied to current problems close to their reality or environment, in which they can make use of inventiveness, creativity, inquiry and oral and written communication to generate methodologically consistent research proposals that are novel and appropriate to the problem addressed, in consideration of the ethical, economic, financial, social, environmental and legal implications that surround it.
